Identification: White Dots on Sunflower Leaves

    Bring back the bees! That was my goal anyway, when I excitedly received free sunflower seeds: Bring Back the Bees

    Unfortunately 3 out of 4 of my sunflower plants started getting little white dots. Any idea what this may be? Should I throw them out before they spread to my other plants?! The bottom set of leaves also started to turn yellow, on 3 out of 4...

    Daniel's suggestion of the Leaf Smut is compelling.
    I don't think the sun would inhibit some fungal diseases: I say that from smuts and mildews I have seen, however, I don't have the gardening/plant pathology experience around this.
