Yesterday 8/31/09 I found this white coral looking fungi in Whitefish Dunes State Park. It's located in Door County, Wisconsin. Seeing this fungi for the first time was amazing. I would like to know how wide of an area can this type of fungi be found?

    Hi Ron,

I agree, coral fungi are beautiful and amazing to come across!
It might be eg. a Ramaria or a Clavulina, and getting an idea of how widespread it can be found would require an ID.
    Do you have a photo?
Coral fungi, particularly Ramarias are notoriously difficult to ID to species.
Most of the fungi I've gotten to know over the years are pretty widespread, some are seriously global.

You might find these pages of Michael Kuo's of interest:

    Frog,
I did't have the camera with me. I'm going to be back in that area this weekend and if I can arrange things I'll try to get a picture. Meanwhile I'll go through the info you sent to try and pinpoint the type I saw.
    Thank for the info.
    Ron
