Pic 1 Hydrangea, Hydrangea macrophylla, ? 'Beaute Vendomoise' Pic 2 Canna lily, ?"Futurity Vermillion" (aka "Futurity Orange") Needs a good period of heat. Likes full sun. Moist soil - needs lots of water (Our container grown specimens has the pots sitting in a saucer of water. But keep on the well drained drier side in the dormant state in the winter if you are overwintering it in the ground. In our USDA zone 8a (warmer side of 7, cooler side of 8!), I haven't had success overwintering this one in the ground. May be, that's because I haven't really tried hard enough. But it's easy to lift the rhizomes up, pot them in sterile potting compost, keep moist and store in a cool, but frost and freeze free location (in our unheated garage or our unheated green house). Just like you would do with dahlia tubers.
