I've been following this stand for a couple years now and someone from Britain recognized it as a Hawthorn. However, I have my doubts as it doesn't have any thorns! So I'm hoping for either a confirmation or correction, please. These are located on Golf Rd in Oak Harbor between The Chief's Club and the South Gate of NAS Whidbey. Common hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna). A frequent weed in western Washington and elsewhere in the northern United States. C. laevigata is similar but rare here; a way to check when fruits are present is to open them up and see how many seeds are present in each.
