Here is a very large seed from a tree that I would like to plant. Can anyone suggest whether the "point" should be up or down?

I would keep the seed between layers of moistened paper towels and place it a warm place. The decision on how to plant it can be made once it germinates. The seed may need to be scarified if it has a hard casing.

I don't know what kind of seed this is, but most of the nuts that I'm familiar with have points that are planted downward.
