Which species is this striking giant Dahlia?

    Its over four meters high it even broke its own branches due to the weight at the top bearing flowers. Pretty thing I bet there are so many var and hybrids

    If you are sure that it's indeed a Dahlia, then it must be one of the "tree dahlias" such as Dahlia imperialis or Dahlia tenuicaulis.

    Don't know, but it's a subtropical plant anyway - no chance of growing it in Saskatchewan unless you have a 5 m high glasshouse ;-)

    True, but I have moved to a more favorable province...not expecting them to bloom for me, but want to grow for the plant itself.

    @pioneer, you can change your location text by clicking on the first of the three icons on the upper right (the one that looks like a head atop a rectangle) and select Personal Details.

    Though Ontario is still a non-starter for growing this - if you want to succeed, try southern Mexico ;-)
