Its over four meters high it even broke its own branches due to the weight at the top bearing flowers. Pretty thing I bet there are so many var and hybrids
Impossible to even guess without a pic. I have never seen one as tall as that. Wow! I have seen competitions of prize winning Dahlias where the flower heads are as big as a football. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=c...iw=1536&bih=728#tbm=isch&q=+huge++big+dahlias
If you are sure that it's indeed a Dahlia, then it must be one of the "tree dahlias" such as Dahlia imperialis or Dahlia tenuicaulis.
Don't know, but it's a subtropical plant anyway - no chance of growing it in Saskatchewan unless you have a 5 m high glasshouse ;-)
True, but I have moved to a more favorable province...not expecting them to bloom for me, but want to grow for the plant itself.
@pioneer, you can change your location text by clicking on the first of the three icons on the upper right (the one that looks like a head atop a rectangle) and select Personal Details.
I came across some tree dahlia seeds while browsing through a seed catalog and it reminded me of this thread. Here is the link: Buy Weeping Tree Dahlia Seeds - Rarexoticseeds
Though Ontario is still a non-starter for growing this - if you want to succeed, try southern Mexico ;-)
