I found this forum a while back, and I'm hoping that someone here can help me identify a plant I have. I got this a few years ago, as a budding from a larger palm tree that we gave away. It's somehow survived over the past two years, and I'm trying to find out more about it so I can give it some care. http://xveers.deviantart.com/#/d2q3pot I know it's from Ikea, and based on their catalogs it's one of two different plants, I think. I believe it is either a Dracaena marginata (Madagascar Dragon Tree) or a Yucca elephantipes (Spineless Yucca), as those are the two plants in the catalogue that look most similar to this one. The main difficulty has been the more mature plants had developed trunks, but I can't tell the difference. I would appreciate any assistance I could have. Thank you very much!
Yucca elephantipes and a light starved one at that. I'd let it spend the summer in a shaded area on the porch or patio. Next Autumn try to find a sunnier indoor area for it to spend the Winter.
Thank you very much saltcedar! The photo itself was taken in late evening in twilight, but the plant itself is pretty much in direct light via a west facing window. I'll be doing better over the summer and fall to take more care of it. Once again, thank you for helping me ID it.
Probably should take less care of it; IE less water. They can go for weeks without a drink in nature. Less so in a container, but be sure it's dry an inch down before you water again.
