(Sigh! I am yearning for action but gardening forums in general seems to have slowed down a bit. Perhaps, everybody is too busy in their gardens.) This garden is in the UK. It has a British Columbian connection by way of a lump of timber - a very tall piece of wood.
That was really quick, Ron. It is the tallest wooden flagpole in the world. It was made from a 370 year old Douglas fir felled by Mac Blo and presented to the Kew in commemoration of the centenary of the Province of BC in 1958, and the bicentenary of the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. I was interested in this because Kew gardens is one the my favourite destinations whenever I visit England. Another more recent reason is a fascinating article that appeared on a Government of Canada Natural Resources web site.
