    Hi,

I live in the Creston Valley and would like to buy and grow an Almond Tree.

Is there a nursery in BC, Canada that sells them? Can you buy and have them shipped to Canada from the USA?

    Thanks for your help,

    LeonaS

Try Art Knapp (Courtenay). I bought one there about 3-4 years ago and does it ever produce beautiful spring flowers and lots of nuts! However, they are hard shell nuts and I am having difficulty cracking them. They have an excellent flavour but unfortunately I don't know the variety of the tree. It is a vigorous growing tree and at least 25' tall now. Hope this helps!

If you are still looking for an almond tree, send me an email. I recently received a list of plants from a Puerto Rican Nursery. They can send to the US with no problems (I'm not sure about Canada), and he had an Almond tree on the list.

If anyone has an almond tree (with edible nuts) in Vancouver or on Vancouver Island, I would LOVE to get a twig or two to use as scionwood for grafting. I am having a heck of a time trying to find a nursery that sells almond trees in Canada. Grimo Nut nursery says almonds can't be sent to BC. I tried Art Knapp Courtenay as "Vancouver Island" suggested, but they don't have any. Help!!! Need almond twigs!!

I used to grow a cultivar called Hall's Hardy in the Okanagan Valley. You might want to try the Gellatly Nut farm in Kelowna. It's a heritage site they may be able to provide scion material. Almonds will be marginal for growing in the Creston area. Hall's Hardy is a nice tree but the nuts are quite difficult to crack. It was damaged several times at my site when the temperature hit -20c. I will post back here later or try to contact me privately. Cheers
