I have a very rapidly growing, happy looking pineapple broom that I bought well over a year ago; it's supposed to bloom mid-summer; I got it maybe in June of 06 and it's now September 07... it must have been fairly young when I got it; it was only a couple feet high but now it's quite large - 8 to 10 feet?? but no blooms as yet...
Now does anyone know if it has to be a few years old first... or could it need a pollinator?

It'll need to be 2 or 3 years old before flowering. Most likely June next year, maybe the year after. June is the flowering time both in the wild (Morocco) and in cultivation in Britain, so it'll likely be the same for Oregon too. It doesn't need a pollinator to produce flowers, only for the flowers to develop into pods with fertile seeds.

That is very good to know; I forget it's a shrub (or is it a tree?) -- and not a perennial. thanks!
