Last year I planted a small grafted Fagus sylvatica Purpurea Tricolor - (rose-marg.)var.beech. It looked amazingly well even through the heat of the summer and survived the winter intact.

Just wondering if my small beech should be leafed out yet?

My black walnuts (Juglans nigra) are starting to leaf, but not the crape myrtle.

Oh, about the weather. Winter was wet. Spring has been dry. January and February were consistently 10 deg F below average but not below 0. Since then we've been warm, but no 90's or anything noteworthy.

Am I worrying about nothing? ACL surgery recovery is keeping me from checking out any beeches at the Missouri Botanical Garden so I don't know how other local ones are coming along.

Beeches here haven't leafed out, and won't for a couple of weeks yet.
