I live in Los Angeles and this is strange... I have a "flowering plum" and a "flowering cherry" tree that I planted outside during spring this year.. but now I just looked at them and they're actually blooming right now!!! I thought they both bloom during early Spring/late Winter.. Does anyone know anything about late summer blooming? ( or are my plants at the "bloom-before-death" stage? ) Thank you
It's the crazy weather. Ours were flowering mid winter here and are about a month early. I have seen late flowering like this on other plants when new. It should settle down for next spring. Just look after them. Liz
Same here (near Vancouver, BC). I have a weeping cherry with one branch that developed 4 or 5 blooms this past week or so. It normally blooms ~April. I didn't think we had had any different weather than last year, though. It was just that one branch for some reason.
I have a flowering plum (white) and is blooming right now. Found it very strange as in previous years, always bloomed in Spring.
