Hi. Newbie gardener here, thought I was planting something else, and these came up. Pretty sure they're not what I planted, but anyone know what they are? The closest I could find online was some sort of polygonum, like a lady's thumb, but they look a bit different to me. Any of you plant detectives know?

    Thanks,

Definitely a Polygonum, perhaps P. lapathifolium (Pale Persicaria, a common weed).

Hey, thanks a lot! Serves me right for assuming it was what I planted just because it's what came up, eh? Guess I ought to uprooot most of it, as it seems to want to take over every available space and jumps from pot to pot all along my garden... oh well, that'll free up more planters for something else. Thanks for your quick reply... looks like I may be hanging out on this website a lot as I indulge my new addiction for gardening!
