Could anyone tell me what is the name of this tree. The ones in the pictures are approx 23 years old and about 11 - 12 feet high. I'd appreciate any help.
Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Squarrosa' or C. p. 'Boulevard' (two similar cultivars of Sawara Cypress). Looks like it has been sheared regularly, the natural shape is looser and more open.
'Boulevard' or similar. 'Squarrosa' has different leaves, farther apart, more slender and at a greater angle to the stem.
Thanks for the replys. And just to say, this one is reguarly trimmed. I have 6 more of these all in their natural shape and they are more open and have looser growth. Can i ask either of you who have replied, i intend to dig the 6 other ones out as they were originally planted to close together, and need spacing. They range in helight from 3 to 8 feet. Will it do them any harm moving them at this size?
Should be OK if you know how to do it and have the equipment. Maybe hire a contractor if you aren't equipped for the task yourself.
