@Ken Hamilton, how is the weather where you are Ken ? Reports are saying Ireland is being hit by storm Ellen now.
31° here today, almost no wind, and no rain. Tomorrow, the temps will begin to go down, 28-29°, then something like 24° for the next ten days, with frequent showers of rain. I heard on the radio that winds up to 180 km/hr (!!!) were registered this morning (or last night).
@AlainK, good evening Alain, so glad you are going to get some rain at last. Yes the winds are going to hit here tomorrow late morning. Not looking forward to it one bit. Very early photos tomorrow, lol.
Hi everyone. I just spent the last hour of daylight moving all my trees in to a (hopefully) more sheltered position in anticipation of tomorrow’s wind. Let’s hope it isn’t that bad... Good luck everyone lol
@Luke’s Maples, good evening Luke, yes fingers crossed for us all. Glad you managed to move them to some protection.
@dicky5ash, good evening R, you are probably in the right place. Sounds lovely. I'm sure your trees with how they are grouped will protect each other. Have a great time and don't worry about them.
Well, awoke to a beautiful sunny calm morning, have the forecasters got it wrong yet again.!!!? Coffee in the garden after taking a few photos. Or is it the calm before the storm!!!?
Yep, it’s sweeping through Oxford too. I would have spent all day worrying about my trees if I hadn’t been in Yorkshire picking up a lovely Purple Ghost from the one and only @ROEBUK :)
I sure did, even though the wind was howling and the rain was pouring. And I would like to say... What a smashing bloke Mark is! So enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I could have spent all day there chatting about our Japanese Maples. Some of his specimens wouldn’t look out of place at Westonbirt. Mark @ROEBUK, thanks for the coffee and biscuits too ;)
@Luke’s Maples So you have met a YouTube maple hero and he supplied coffee and biscuits. Can't have a better day than that Luke.
You’re absolutely right. It was a long drive. I left Oxford at 0550 this morning, and I just got home... But, it was 100% worth it! He has a couple of ‘Duplicate’ trees. Some in the ground and the duplicate in a pot. So interesting to see the difference between them. As I said.. I could have spent all day nattering:)
The wind was howling and the rain was pouring, welcome to sunny Yorkshire !!! now you know what it's been like up here these past few months and why i am always moaning about the weather this year. It got worse after you left and only started to calm down after 6 pm, glad you enjoyed your self and made it home safely was nice to meet you. Hope you like your new tree ! ......Mark
Hey. Yes I love it. I’ll probably take and post a couple of pics of it tomorrow. Thanks again for standing out in the rain and taking the time to talk me through your wonderful collection.
Well awoke to a different season this morning, Summer is here again. Assessed the damage and apart from some overturned pots and a few broken branches not too bad. The TV forecaster said last night that this was very unseasonal, he was so right !! Is this a hint of things to come in future Summers!!!???
I cannot believe this. I just had a text from my maple friend, who said "have a look at the forecast for Tuesday". I did and there it was, 45 mph winds yet again. Enough is enough !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am really not understanding this weather at all, last night the temperature dropped so quickly then heated up again and now it's pouring with rain. Plus weather warnings on the news for Tuesday. This is August ........ right !!!??
Just saw this pop up and thought, yes the weather has now made 2020 even more of a weired year !!! G-g-g-g'day! Australia shivers as Antarctic air brings rare snowfall
Well the Met office has just given Tuesdays wind for the UK a name 'Storm Francis'. So this means as it has been named, it's not going to be nice.
Actually cold today here and the forecasters are now talking about a cyclone and 70mph winds tomorrow. Trees will not like that and the larger ones in our area that are obviously heavy in leaf are going to loose some branches!!! If not more.
