Hi, @Acerholic! It seems, that the warm weather you sent here, is starting to end now. Here a risk of first autumn night frost is predicted this Saturday - they predict, that the air temperature is dropping down to 6.2 degrees. That means, that below zero could be expexted on the ground. My floating row covers are starting to get busy again, unless their models are wrong.
@Sulev, it's not too warm here either Sulev. 7° C overnight forecast this weekend. Hailstones here earlier today and this is August in the South of England. What next this year !!!!!
A tornado cell just passed through... 90 mph winds, major damage to trees in the yard. 75% of the town is without power, including us.
@Nik , Oh I see N, your photos are very upsetting. If this is Summer, I hope for your sake that the Autumn wind does not become dangerous 'for you'. Trees will re grow.
Well, hail stones and thunder is nothing like what is happening elsewhere around the world, but this is what we have just had. Some sun now but, definatly a lot cooler. Don't think I have ever seen the ground so wet in August!!!!
This is what my local high street looked like. Torrential rain causes city centre flooding and travel misery as landslip blocks railway line
Home today..am finding 13C rather cool compared to 10 days of 33-36C..not so much watering was required in my absence
Thanks D..not seen my garden yet..was dark by the time I got home..nothing reported by my parents who watched over it for me
Well here in Southern England I've woken to a rather cold start to the day. Felt very Autumnal when taking photos this morning. Wonder how things are at M @ROEBUK in West Yorkshire. Possibly heating has kicked in !!?? The year continues to be weired. Now it would be nice to be where Monica @monicasanchez and J@zfrittz are. Soooo warm !!!
I covered all my cucumbers, pumpkins, zucchinis, peanuts, sweet potatoes, outdoor tomatoes, tomatillos and beans with floating row covers last night. And put all my citruses and pomegranates indoors. Luckily the temperature did not drop down to zero on the ground, but +2ºC was the minimum. So there was no damages to my corn, yacon and oca plants, that left uncovered. In the morning all the row covers were wet and heavy from dew.
It’s official now, there was a tornado in the area, it technically ended just before reaching our neighborhood, but winds here were measured at 90-100 mph (145-161 kph). Still no power. Today we are dealing with the remnants of hurricane Laura. Mostly rain, not much wind.
@dicky5ash so how were the maples R after seeing them in daylight ? I think the weather we had this last couple of weeks was just about perfect for them apart from storm Francis.
