    Hi everyone.

I'm extremely new to lawn and garden care, and could really use the help. I just had the sod in my front and back lawn redone 3 weeks or so ago, and on the first day I saw these tufts of grass that were slightly different from the rest of the turf. I got some chafer beetle resistant turf, and not knowing a thing about lawn care, I thought this might be normal. Now, 3 weeks later, my lawns are covered with these weeds, and I'm not sure what they are or how to get rid of and prevent them. Any advice would be much appreciated. I did some initial searching, and it looks to be crabgrass, but can't find pictures that much completely.

    Thanks very much!

To anyone interested, the company that supplied the turf had accidentally allowed grass seeds from another type mix in with the original batch. These are not weeds but another strain of grass.

Thanks for the follow up note. That's what it looked like to me, but I've never taken care of a lawn and really had no idea.

Well, for what it is worth, it certainly has that look about it. It looks too coarse to go with the rest of your lawn anyway, so my suggestion would be remove.

The tall, coarse grass will probably not like being cut short; so it might disappear if you mow the lawn frequently using a low setting.
