So far I'm batting 100% in finding names for my wild flowers so here goes another try. This is growing by my front door. I haven't seen the flower as it had gone to seed so quickly. I'll keep looking. Maybe it blooms at night. I'm in New York State, the lower Hudson valley.

I think what you see is what you got. Senecio vulgaris or Old-Man-in-the-Spring. The above link is to a page from an old flora/herbal. The picture on the USDA Plants page most resembled your picture.

It's listed on the federal noxious weed list.

Much too large for Senecio vulgaris. Looks more like a Sonchus (sow-thistle) or Lactuca (lettuce) species to me

Genus Sonchus or Lactuca is probably correct. I didn't notice the spiny leaf margins. Jumped to the conclusion when Lois said she didn't see any bloom, where most Sonchus/Lactuca is a bit showier than Senecio vulgaris. The height for Senecio vulgaris is 18-20 inches(50 cm) while some species in either the Sonchus or Lactuca genus grow upwards of 4 feet (150 cm).
