I bought a house a couple of months ago that had been vacant for a year or so. There was this bush in the backyard that I almost thought was a weed. However, I noticed it started to put on a type of fruit, so I let it grow. Attached are three pictures. Can anybody tell me what this is? At first I thought it was a fig tree, with the fruit coming right of the stem like that. However, the fruit has a large seed developing in it. Perhaps it is some type of nut?

    What is this?

Wow. Thanks. I saw that it looked like a peach, but I would have never guessed such a small peach "bush" would start producing fruit. It has grown quite a bit in the last weeks, but when first put on fruit, it was only a little more than 3 feet high.
