What tropical shrub, bunches of variegated toothed leaves white margins

    I've wanted to know what this is for years. It's commonly planted on Kauai, where I am right now, and the tight leaf bunches are so beautiful that it's often used for table decoration. It's not in any of the seven guides to tropical plants I have with me, so it's almost certainly not native in Hawaii, and may not be particularly tropical, though it definitely says "tropics" to me. The bushes seem to be about 10 feet tall and wide.

    Thanks, Lila. I see from the Floridata site that it's native to Fiji. I did see its relative in one of my books, but I didn't recognize it as being the same genus:
