Visiting my cousins in Northern Portugal, I noticed this beautiful tree, and to my surprise they told me that they don't know the name, and that it came from Brazil decades ago. Any idea about the species? Thanks.
Welcome to the forums! Sorry, not identifiable from this pic alone. Can you get some close-up photos of the leaves, and any flowers or fruit if present, please?
Dear Michael, I’ve finally managed to get some of the leaves and one of its fruit in pictures. Hope you can find out what tree is this this time. Thanks a lot.
1st pic shows a tree with purple leaves. 2nd group pics show good detail. It is Fagus sylvatica purpurea....a purple leaved Beech tree. The small hard things are the seed pods..inside are the seeds.
