i registered but did not get the mail for me to activate the account... but i do need to get this leaf identified asap. it is grown in the tropics (malaysia) and said to have medicinal properties any clues?
Where in tropical Malay was the leaf taken from? By tropical I mean domestic or indian forest. The picture only narrows it down to @ 1 in infinity. It would help to Know the medicinal /mystical properties of the plant. A picture would be good to.
it is supposed to be only found near indian temples, not exactly forested areas. Prob the indians use it for medicines? It is supposed to be reduce swollen livers. i do not have a pic of the tree cuz i don't stay there. it was delivered to us to singapore. will try to get a pic though... i thought the leaf should be quite unique cuz of the way the upper leaf margin curves with the midrib. by the way, the upper leaf margin (upper as in reference to the picture), is not broken off, it looks like this in all the leaf samples i received.
This is likely Azadirachta indica, commonly known as the nim tree or neem tree. Resources: Trees Commonly Cultivated in Southeast Asia - and specifically Azadirachta indica Meliaceae from Dr. Gerald Carr of the University of Hawaii Botany Department.
