I bought a home with all gravel front and back. I want to put grass and some planters in. My question is what do I do with all the gravel? Do I take it to the dump? Is there a recycling place for it? I don't have a lot of money and plan to do all the work myself. I need help and some ideas. Thank you!

    Hi.
Why not advertise it locally? There is probably someone out there who does not have surplus $ but who would be happy to collect and use it. Wish you were nearer as we need gravel!
    Good luck.

Just curious, do a lot of people in Riverside have grass lawns? I see the annual precipitation is just over 10 inches a year. That is a very dry climate. Lawns use a lot of water and that may be why there was so much gravel used by the previous owners.

Gravel can be used as a mulch. It is becoming a common thing here. They are selling gravels in all different colours for planting drought tolerant gardens. It is also useful for paths such as in a vegetable garden with raised beds. Around trees that won't easily allow other things to grow. By gravel mulching you can then add some pots wth plants to clean the area up.

join the local freecycle.org group and offer it. you can even specify that they are responsible for bagging it up, too. which will make it less work to remove for you ;)
