I might have finally got this. The stems seem somewhat square and leaves are alternate, Lamiaceae-looking, but the flowers look like Asteraceae. What about Monarda fistulosa? Wild bergamot or bee balm, Lamiaceae. I started by querying bee balm four hours ago, but nothing came up that looked like this, so I went off in other directions. It's in an ornamental planting in the North Garden, not on my inventory listing.
Sure looks like Monarda fistulosa, especially if the flowers are in the 1.5-2.0 inch range. It's a plentiful species in my area.
