This tree is in a front yard of an apartment building in Vancouver's West End. I hope it's not a cherry. I was first thinking apricot, then came across some almond photos and wonder if it's that. The almond photos, though, all showed previous season's fruits with the flowers, and I didn't see any of those. Is this an ornamental version of whatever it is? I didn't think to measure the flowers - I remember them as maybe 3cm across.

What should I be noticing that would indicate what this is?

    Almond.

Hybrid almonds tend to produce pink flowers, have other peach characters visible - despite being generally almond-like, including producing nuts rather than peaches.

I caught this Prunus dulcis in bloom again, finally. 'Whitcomb' cherries have been out for a while. 'Accolade' and 'Somei-yoshino' cherries are open in this neighbourhood now.

Almonds! Several, though not a lot of them, but I have never seen an almond fruit before, so this is exciting. On the tree posted above. There may be more higher in the tree that I didn't see.
