what plant is this?

    Plant identification please. We live on Vancouver Island but have no idea of where this plant came from.
    Anyone have an idea?

    Melianthus major. Only half-hardy, the foliage there looks a bit frosted, so don't be surprised if you lose it in any severe cold.

    Caution: very toxic if eaten - not a good plant with young children, or pets that like to chew things.
