This is an ornamental planting that looks like some Lamiaceae I should know, but I don't remember seeing those nice single row whorls of square calyxes. The plant is very hairy but leaves are not thick or fuzzy. Leaves are fragrant when crushed.

Is it at the end of flowering, or does it bloom like this, one or two flowers in a cluster in bloom at any one time? It's not that I don't go past this planting at least once a week, but I've never noticed it before. Maybe with the flowers out of the way, I was able to notice the calyxes?

I keep coming up with Lycopus, but that doesn't look quite right.

Thanks, Lila. Certainly something I should have seen before. I don't see any splash-of-white photos, so I guess this one would be considered to be in full bloom.
