i've been trying to identify some newly acquired plants, and my cousin asked me to help him identify his plant. below are a few pictures he sent me. it looks some sort of cane, but i have no idea. If you could help that would be greatly appreciated!
Looks like Alpinia zerumbet 'variegata' to me. Try cutting one of the canes and smelling it - if I'm right, it'll be like sweet ginger with hints of honey, and be mildly spicy to taste.
It is looking like a bit of a crispy critter. My Alpinias are all in part shade, and it seems to do them good.
