Identification: What Kind Of Tree Is This?

Hi,

I'm doing an "Adopt A Tree" assignment, but the tree I chose to adopt is one that I can't identify!

Any help with this is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

 

A 'half close-up' showing a shoot with several leaves would help.

Am I right in suspecting this tree is indoors in a mall? Certainly doesn't look like anything that would be hardy outdoors in Nova Scotia.
