what kind of plant is this?

    It is a purple ball and when it opened it has 5 red balls(seeds).

    i'm pretty sure thats it. we have lived here since the late 70's and i have never seen such a plant here. i raise horses and i need to know if they are toxic to horses. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

    Seeds are a strong laxative. Fruit is toxic and can cause coma in sufficient quantity. I'd say keep the horses away from it!
