Identification: what kind of plant is this?

    i don't know anything about plants. and i haven't been very successful with my plants over the years. but this plant is so cool and i don't want to kill it. anything you can tell me about this plant would be great. please help! thanks!!

    The correct name is Oxalis triangularis. Oxalis regnelii is a later synonym.

    The purple form is Oxalis triangularis ssp. papilionacea (Hoffmannsegg ex Zuccharini) Lourteig, Flora Illustrada Catarinense 1 (Oxalid.): 101 (1983).
