I'm familiar with the mulberry trees (and their delicious fruit) here in Illinois, but today i stumbled upon 2 trees that have a different sort of mulberry. There are more unripe white berries than any other, and Most of the fully ripe berries appear as a very light white-purple-color, with only a very select few turning the familiar deep purple I'm used to. Are they diseased? is It some sort of hybrid? Is it safe to eat?? Here are the pictures...

Is it normal though for the berries of that species to be that color though when fully ripe??

A cultivar of Morus alba. Ripe fruit colour in different cultivars of Morus alba can vary from white right through to very dark purple, almost black.
