I have made some photos of a fungus. Could be an Exidia? And what species? This where taken in 2/12/2008 in north east Portugal, in a small oak and chestnut forest. I have no experience in these area. Thanks in advance.
I'm not familiar with any but one Exidia sp. that doesn't grow on wood? Can you detect any wood underneath these growths at all? Did you touch them to see what kind of texture they had? This kind of resembles the REMAINS of some sort of fungi...is the date a 'fall-like' weather there? I'm not familiar with the season differences there in Portugal as to the US.
