What kind of flowering tree is this?

    Waterford, MI USA
    We rescued it from our yard when we were fixing the landscaping. We moved it in 2004 and then all of the sudden last spring it flowered and this year it flowered beautifully. My enighbors and everyone are wondering what it is! I have no idea...can anyone help me?

    a closeup would help me but my first impression is a Cercis, or a Prunus, cant really tell sorry!
