When i was a kid in central New York, one of the local farmers used to grow and sell a sweet corn that had very big fat ears of corn but had very small yellow kernels. It was very good and I havent seen that type of corn in at least 30 years since that farm sold out to a developer. All I see any more is the corn with the skinnier ears and larger kernels. As a side note, I was a kid so the ears might have seemed larger to me than they really were, but the kernels were definately very yellow and small. Thanks, Steve
Maybe 'Sweet Million' or 'Golden Bantam' ? Both are heritage varieties of gold sweet corn, with infrequent current cultivation. I'm particularly fond of Golden Bantam, which is a stout, shorter cob of corn with smaller, bright yellow-gold kernels.
