This appearance can be gotten from Prunus mume 'Matsubara Red'.

    Hey Ron,

    First of all thank you,

but i dont think it is.

I looked at photos of the plant you suggested and it seems that it's branches
come out close to the ground wheras the tree i am looking for - it's branches come out higher and also it has thick branches. It looks pretty strong. I'm guessing my tree is around 30 ft. high

    Thank you very much though,

    Snufkin

I have a couple of thoughts, but can't say for sure without a picture that shows the flowers better. Can you get a close-up of the flowers?

What I was suggesting was to use the Japanese apricot cultivar to get the same look. Otherwise picture appears as though a touched-up image of an Acer rubrum in flower. In reality its inflorescences would not be as dense and intensely colored.

    Hello,

This looks very much like a photo I took at the end of the year - November of a large Viburnum trilobum with their bright clusters of red jewel-like berries. Its common name in the eastern US is American Cranberry Bush and can get about 10-13' and 6-9' wide.

    Best,

    PP
