Lila the one in yr. first picture looks as tho it is about to flower????? purple or is that it. If not this is a very nice looking plant but does it have the potential to be a weed. It is a rare garden plant as yet, not a weed... but it could be a weed, like every not native garden plant... :( The name is not sure, some Liatris, but I don't know the species... I think, it could be L. ligulistylis...
I'm sorry, I've only seen this in flower. The leaves and number of flowers look a bit off to me re: Liatris ligulistylis, but then again, sometimes plants perform a bit differently in cultivation (particularly re: flower numbers).
