    Hello,
This plant was given to me in Sept last year. It looking a little burned, and as this will be its first summer I thought it would be a good idea to make sure it can handle the direct sunlight it would be getting in its present location. Can someone tell me what it is?
    Thx,
    Adrian

Yes it is a Phormium it's the species plant Phormium Tenax and will eventually reach 8-9 feet tall with flower spikes reaching up to 15 feet so that pot won't last too long. You can get smaller cultivars of this plant in various different colours that are more suited to life in a pot. They like full sun but try not to let the pot dry out.I have dozens of different cultivars of these and find they are virtually indestructible.

We had many of the die over last winter. we had cold in the range of 8 to 10 below celsius with 15-20 Km winds over a two week period. Also dead are most Escallonia and some Ceanothus
