what is this?

    While hiking on the Sinclair Pass trail in Kootenay National Park I photographed this plant; I couldn't find it in my western boreal plant guide, so I presume it's particular to the mountains (this was at about 2000 m.. July 7).. thanks for any help..

    ...and you might look at Pulsatilla occidentalis

    Thanks Tipularia! I checked back, and both these anemones are found in the Canadian Rockies (Banff area) so it's certainly a good bet..

    Anemone occidentalis.... still blooming in areas where the snow has very recently melted.

    Thanks! and yes, there was still quite a bit of snow right around where I saw these..

    Hi,

    this is anemone drummondii. I am investigating these plant for more than five years. Could you please contact me, I woul be happy to have DNA sample of this specimen from the area you went
