what is this?

    This plant has a woody stem and was started by sticking a cutting, from the original plant, into the soil. It has firm, short (up to 3/8 inch), very sharp, needle spines on the lower half of the stem. Under side of leaves are pink color. New growth at the top of the stem is bright pink for a few days. The leaves look almost transparent and waxy. We believe it is a house plant and have not seen any flowers on this plant.

    Not sure but it might be Pereskia aculeata var. godseffiana, Barbados Gooseberry.
