What is this??

    I saw this in the woods next to the trail and I have no idea what it is, can anyone tell me? I am in Maine, btw.

    Ghost plant, Indian pipe (Monotropa). Saprophytic flowering plant, has no foliage. Deep woods have various kinds of saprophytes, including genera in the orchid family.
