Can anyone ID this? It is a single woody stem that grew to about six feet before it finally tipped over far enough for the tendrils to grab a nearby branch. I live in Southern Wisconsin

It's a member of the genus Smilax or carrion-flowers. There aren't enough details in the photograph to be able to identify to species, but you can use the listings for the genus Smilax from the Robert W. Freckmann Herbarium at Univ. Wisconsin to give it a try at figuring out on your own, or to use as a guide to take pictures of the relevant parts for identification if you want to know the particular species (note the parts in bold in the descriptions of the species).
