I have one last flower to submit for identification for today .. on July 31, we saw this vine growing and flowering profusely in Summerland in British Columbia (zone 6, I think), at the "Dirty Laundry Winery" Yes, that is really what it is called - see www.dirtylaundry.ca/ This vine was obviously thriving there, although I've never seen one in the Lower Mainland. Does anyone know what it is?
Looks like Fallopia aubertii. http://images.google.com/images?hl=...1&sa=3&q=fallopia+aubertii&btnG=Search+images
Yes, Fallopia aubertii appears to be the right species. This vine was described variously in the internet as "a fast grower!" or a "Mile-a-Minute" vine; it's no wonder it was growing so rampantly at that vineyard. Very pretty, though. Thank you, Silver Surfer.
