What is this tree

this is the flowering of a tree/shrub that has purple leaves. Can you tell me what kind it might be from this picture of the flowers. I'm in NJ and this started flowering this week (early April) during an early spring warming spell.

Looks like a flowering or ornamental crabapple. Just Google those terms, and you should find something that looks like your plant. There are lots of cultivars.

 

thanks so much for your help. I finally googled purple flowering trees (duh) and it looks like it's a spring purple plum tree - no fruit which helped the ID
