    Hi,

I live in County kildare, Ireland and have had a plant for 3 years now which starts flowering profusely in May. The flowers are 3mm. She bears pinkish red fruit 1cm in diameter which has 2 green hard seeds. Fruit is ripe in late summer/autumn. The fruit is fleshy. The leaf is 5-6 cm and the tree keeps some of its leaves throughout winter. In a hard winter the 2 top leaves at branch terminals remain while all fall. The weather we have are mild winters and wet summers. Temperatures in winter go to only -5 degree celcius and summers are generally a few degrees above and below the 20 degree celsius mark. The tree is not grafted and stands at present about 1metre tall. photos are attached. Thank you.

    would appreciate any ideas?

    Cheers,
    Mannie

Aristotelia serrata is dioecious and both sexes are required for the production of red-black berries. Both male and female trees would be needed but this one is just on its own. Could some other native tree around pollinate it to produce the berries or is this a different species which is hermaphrodite?

    Cheers,
    Mannie
