what is this shrub

my first post was in the indoor plants. woops. its obviously an outdoor plant. a couple of pictures are attached, they were taken in May. Does anyone know what this is called?

 

Cornus, Dogwood of some kind ? Can check here http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=CORNU

 

Looks like a dogwood. Maybe Cornus drummondii

 

thanks, this looks exactly like the flower and leaf. i'll look further into it.

 

Won't be C. drummondii, but rather one of the redtwig species like C. sericea.

Could be, but C. drummondii can also have reddish twigs.
