Brought in with highway mulch 5 years ago. Looked pretty at first then like rabbits to Australia.........whew! does anyone know what it is
According to Clark in "Wild Flowers of the Pacific Northwest" it occurs from northern California to southern Vancouver Island in dry, open places. I found a stray seedling in a plant I bought at the alpine sale. I grew it and collected seeds, I can see where given the right conditions it could become quite a pest. It does have a very interesting smell that bears a remarkable resemblance to marijuana...... or so I've been told. Joe
I found some pictures of N. squarrosa (SKUNKWEED) and that is definitely the one ! Thanks again! I also noted that they charge $2.97 US in Britain for a package. Perhaps you would like to help me pick them ( I have millions) and we could make a fortune ?? :) Regards Noel Phillips Chemainus
