what is this plant

    We found this flower on our land. It looked very unusual. Anyone know what it is?

    thank you for your reply it is an endangered plant here then. It is strange, we didn't see it until today.

    One of multiple species of sessile trilliums. T. erectum is not one of these, has stalked flowers.

    Try Trillium recurvatum instead (commonly known as the bloody butcher)

    Saw T. recurvatum in flower at Florabundance sale in Seattle yesterday - looked like plant shown here. Right next to it on the table was T. erectum in flower - one of those funny happenings, that I would encounter these two together, soon after this discussion.
