What is this plant?

    I just bought a home and always lived in apartments. Needless to say, I don't know much about gardening.
    This plant is on my front yard and I would like to identify it.
    What is it?

    That is quite a nice specimen, and to see it bloom!! WoW.
    If you think it's a little out of control, you can cut it back and it grow back without fear.
