She is a real beauty, comes up in my garden every two years. the flowers are many different colors some years she grows to be four or five feet tall!

I think it is an Impatiens balsamina.

Impatiens glandulifera (an 'it', not a 'she'!)

It's an annual, so you are seeing a different specimen each year.

My first thought was also I. glandulifera, but the flowers look a bit different...

I'm not 100% sold on it being that particular species either, if the original photo was better it might be possible to be more definite.

I will try to post another picture .

I do not believe it is an annual.

I lived here for 7 years never planted any plants near the area , then one year i had about ten of them show up with the most beautiful flowers. an annual that waits many seasons to seed again?

I pulled up this plant for 7 years before she flowered , sorry to me she is a "she" i love this plant , i tried to kill her for years but she hung on, she blossoms in mid to late August. she gets very tall about three or four feet tall.

Do impatients get 3 or 4 feet tall? This year I had only two some years i have ten or twenty plants show up here , this area is very shady under my house, northern exposure . Before i planted here it was mostly stones so i do not think it is a seed from an annual .

    does this picture help?
    thank you for your help.

This is a view from the top of the plant, the red underneath is a new bloom not full yet . it lookes very much like the flower you posted but it has double the petals on the blossom maybe a double impatient of some type?

I looked it up, seems it is considered a "weed" umpf.

they can get up to ten feet tall! it is a hardy plant seed can wait a couple of years to germinate it says.
thank you so much for all your help! for years i asked around , then she didnt come then this year i got a couple of them so i decided to check again on the net!

Your so very helpful. thanks again.
i wonder if can buy a "weed" anywhere in New York.

    Thanks!

    OK, agreed, not Impatiens glandulifera.
